But again, we were so happy to be there once again, we didn’t take note. We’d never seen this restaurant so close to empty. Yet here it was a Sunday afternoon, and inside, only two other tables were occupied. However, given that at least two storefronts there were empty, victims of the extended “two week” shutdown that had lasted about a year, we really didn’t pay attention to the absence of more vehicles. Our first clue should have been the fact that there were very few cars in the parking lot of the strip mall in which the restaurant sits. the area, and finally stopped by after over a year, and were looking forward to another satisfying meal of great sushi. It was, in short, one of our favorite restaurants in New Jersey. Prior to the Shutdown of 2020, my girlfriend and I had eaten at SushiO several times we particularly liked the two salmon and mango combo rolls they made exclusively. Beware and double check your check before they slap you with charges that you are not expecting. The price for lunch is great but I will not go back nor will I recommend the place to anyone because the service, the not so fresh sashimi. The sashimi was not as fresh as it used to be. I don't appreciate inconsistency when it comes to gratuity because her service sucked and now we are pushed to reward her sucky service? The food also has gone down hill. Are they hoping for us not noticing it so that we would tip double? It's quite a shady move. We usually give 20% gratuity and we have no problem all the times in the past but I don't like to see a sudden change without notice. I said to her we go all the time and this is the first time we see this charge then she was speechless. When we were there 2 weeks ago we didn't get hit with the 18%, why this time? I asked the server as to why there's 18% gratuity charge all she could say is "it's the management". When we got our check they slapped us an 18% gratuity which was new to us because we always go with the same 4 adults and 3 kids (who are under 3). Our server was chit chatting w coworkers instead of serving us. We didn't even get our serving plate and we had to get the plate ourselves since we sat next to the station.
I can understand if they were super busy but they only had us and two other table. I don't like to be rushed when I am having my meal. The server was not friendly and it seemed to me she's rushing us to have our meal to get us out.
However, today we were there for lunch and the. My husband and I Used to dine at this restaurant all the time and we have brought our family there on birthdays, anniversaries and many many occasions. Restaurants for Special Occasions in Edison.
